Homelander had idealistic hopes of sitting around a table having family dinner with his dad and son. He felt this might help his biological father be more receptive to having a relationship with him. The moment was both sad and heartfelt as the hopelessness in Homelander’s eyes was evident when he introduced Ryan to Soldier Boy. Interestingly, while it’s supposed to be the Supes’ job to save everyday citizens, The Boys, including Hughie, appear to be the only ones interested in achieving that. He takes his role in The Boys seriously as not only a group with the task of eliminating dangerous Supes and exposing Vought but also saving people. While Hughie said this in part because he felt like he owed Billy for having saved his life, he is also the type of genuine person who believes that everyone deserves a second, or even third, chance. Maeve had one of the best character arcs in season 3 of The Boys, and this speech was a perfect end to it. She would be a force to be reckoned with and Maeve was happy to hand over the reins. In this line, she recognized that not only did Starlight have the ability to literally fly if she had enough electrical power to fuel herself, but she also meant Starlight was far stronger than she realized. She was the first person to help Starlight when she first joined the Seven, and Starlight was able to now return the favor. It was a sweet thing to do even though Hughie didn’t know it at the time.Īfter Maeve and Starlight met up following the explosion, Maeve prepared to go into hiding without her powers, and she gave a heartfelt speech to Starlight.
Rather than reveal to Hughie that Compound V would almost definitely kill him if he took it again, risking the chance that Hughie would do it anyway, he made sure Hughie did not have the opportunity to take it. He realized Butcher was, in the best way he knew how, saving his life. Sadly, it was followed by betrayal and one of the most gruesome deaths in The Boys.Įven though Hughie was angry that Billy Butcher mysteriously punched him in the face and locked him in a public restroom right before the big fight, the look of recognition on his face when Starlight revealed the truth about temporary Compound V made it all clear. It’s rare that Homelander actually shows he cares about anyone, so the fact that he was so elated to see his friend come back when he spoke these words was a sweet moment.
So when he saw him return, Homelander was overwhelmed with emotion. Black Noir was the one friend he thought he could trust. Homelander often felt alone, despite the fact that he was admired by many. It was the literal animated hearts that surrounded Homelander and Black Noir as they hugged that truly made this moment one of the most heartfelt on the show. He said these words and they were powerful enough to make MM tear up.
One of the sweetest moments was when Frenchie comforted MM while he was feeling guilty for lashing out in front of his daughter. But when the chips were down, they genuinely care about one another and would be there for one another. While their friendship often involved trading crude insults, it was all in good fun. Nonetheless, the line held more weight than he realized it could.įrenchie and MM had a tumultuous relationship but as they came together for the sake of The Boys, they began to bond with one another. Of course, Butcher was speaking out of emotion more than anything else since he had a much deeper connection with Becca than Homelander did. Homelander said it so matter-of-factly as if blaming Ryan was a thought that could never possibly cross his mind. It was likely the moment when Ryan decided what side he would be on. So when Homelander, presumably not knowing about that conversation, said this line, it was exactly what Ryan needed to hear. Billy Butcher had effectively blamed Ryan for his mother’s death, causing the little boy trauma and tremendous guilt. It was an unintentionally sweet quote but one that meant more than Homelander realized.
